A Science Affair

A Science Affair is a free building-wide, afternoon-long takeover of The Shed centering teens from NYC schools, green teams, local community partners, and climate justice organizations as they amplify and celebrate each other, their work, and ideas around art and environmental justice. Planned and programmed by teen staff in the High Line Teens program in partnership with The Shed, the day’s events will include drop-in workshops exploring climate through printmaking, building, and weaving together, a science fair with tables, exhibition tours of Tomás Saraceno: Particular Matter(s) created and led by the teens themselves, a series of panels and speakers, DJs and live music, dance, poetry, and art. In addition to these events, Saraceno invites visitors to take part in the Aerocene project by bringing used plastic bags to contribute to a community-built floating sculpture, Museo Aero Solar, through workshops led by educator Maya Jeffereis.

Throughout the building, there will be areas for engagement and building connections and community with other participants. Join us in a celebratory and visionary day full of music, art, and investigation.
